What is full color printing?

Full color printing, also call process or CMYK printing, is when four inks are used to produce true to life imaging on print products. The four inks  are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (or black). Each color is printed separately to create the final image.

Check out this video of our printer in action, printing a full color, offset brochure:

The first ink is black, followed by magenta, cyan, and yellow. The fifth process you see is an optional aqueous coating. Depending on the paper type, you might want to include this on your printing project. Aqueous coating is a protective finish that protects the paper from dirt, smudging, fingerprints, and scratches.

So, what can you print full color? Just about anything. Here are some recent examples of jobs we’ve done full color:

CD/DVD sleeves

Envelopes, letterheads, and return cards
